I worked as senior designer for this GNG signage project. During the creative process, I lead brainstorm sessions with a team of designers and copywriters. We came up with several great concepts. After the client chose this collage concept of instruments flowing into each other, I designed the artwork in illustrator. We worked with our production designer, to ensure correct color and fit to the custom board layouts. These banners were installed throughout perimeter staircases at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA.
Development
Once the instrument collage concept was chosen, I moved into refining the sketches and scanning into photos I took of the site where the banners were to be posted.
Design Exploration
I created lots of different instruments, assets, and designs in Illustrator. Even though the concept is fanciful, it was important for me to make sure the instrument designs were true to form; the electric guitar shows fret spacing and pickups, the drum design includes lugs and tension rods, etc…
After several client revisions, we settled on this light background concept, which can be seen at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
